Beer Marketing Jobs: Fort George Brewing Director of Marketing

Fort George Brewery is announcing its search for a Marketing/Sales Director. The Marketing/Sales Director position oversees all efforts that drive sales and promote the brand, story, and culture of Fort George Brewery. Fort George Brewery is a growing company which operates two separate breweries (small-batch and production/packaging), a craft-only distributorship, two full-service destination restaurants, and a small beer focused taproom in historic Astoria, Oregon; this position works to weave these threads into meaningful narratives for our sales and marketing team. Internally, this position works closely with ownership, senior leadership, HR, department leaders, and its team of marketing and sales staff to achieve its goals.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS MUST: 

  • Be passionate 
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Possess or obtain a valid OLCC Server’s Permit; Cicerone certified beer server certification or greater preferred
  • Have a minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in a sales/marketing environment; related experience in a craft beer context preferred
  • Have a minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in alcohol beverage industry; related experience in a craft beer or distributor context preferred
  • Have a minimum 3-5 years experience in a leadership and/or supervisory role; be able to demonstrate personnel management skills
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of the three-tier system
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification/experience in Graphic Design, Marketing or related field preferred
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or be able to travel to all required events or work locations
  • Possess core competencies in business acumen, results-driven strategic thinking, and information analytics/assimilation
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to exchange information with patrons, partners, industry professionals, and coworkers professionally and efficiently; strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Possess strong, detail-oriented organizational and self-motivated time management skills
  • Be able to manage project workflows to ensure that deliverables are completed efficiently and on-time
  • Be proficient with Mac OS, various programs and platforms including but not limited to VIP iDIG, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Basecamp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Drive, etc.
  • Be able to adapt to frequent changes in workload and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Being able to complete all scheduled shifts and tasks as directed by supervisor 
  • Exercising discretion and independent judgement over all matters relating to production planning, sales, and marketing operations
  • Hiring, training, scheduling, and managing a working staff of safe, efficient, and well-rounded sales/marketing/merch employees
  • Monitoring sales/marketing/merch staff / performance; regularly preparing/conducting performance reviews
  • Generate & steward a marketing/sales plan driven by brewhouse innovation in line with annual business goals
  • Develop and update marketing programs and sales strategies that support quarterly business objectives
  • Lead, identify expectations, and direct areas of responsibility for the marketing and sales team that deliver results in line with the annual plan and monthly objectives
  • Communicate the value and story of Fort George beer to sales personnel and integrate feedback to remain responsive to market trends and pressures
  • Develop sales tools in the form of material collateral, data-driven MQLs, and sick cutting edge methods for utilizing CRM(VIP iDIG, KARMA NOTES)
  • Plan the launch of new beers, manage cross-functional implementations from ideation to shelf placement
  • Operate as a steward of the Fort George brand guidelines in order to maintain consistent design and brand voice across all mediums
  • Develop product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to create the highest possible long-term market share
  • Demonstrate and apply market intelligence; oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to adapt to a changing market and competitive conditions
  • Ensure effective control of marketing/sales results and take corrective action to achieve objectives
  • Coordinate with brewery, packaging, logistics, and distributors to project “quantity of units sold” for Fort George beer
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute 200-3000 attendee beer events
  • Work interdepartmentally to build and put into action a long term strategic plan including KPIs and action items for every department of Fort George
  • Oversee the design and all required actions related to stocking and sale of on-premise and online merchandise
